  Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs 

   For realization of its goals and objectives according to the legislation of the Republic of Armenia      the Ministry:


1) Drafts legislative and other normative acts, generalizes the practical implementation of legal acts, and presents recommendations with the aim of improvement of the Legislation of the Republic of Armenia in the sphere of sport and youth affairs.

2) Drafts and implements concepts and specific state programs in the sphere of sport and youth affairs.

3) Takes part in the elaboration of the Draft Budget of the Republic of Armenia within the scope of its competence;

4) Administers the organizational-methodical management of athletes’ training and organization of the physical education for the population in the Republic.

5) Keeps statistics of sport activities;

6) Presents the distinguished persons in the sphere for state awards, prizes and honorary titles;

7) Awards sports titles and grades, rewards the prize winners of republican championships, activists in the sphere and organizations with medals, prizes and certificates.

Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture

 Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture is a higher education institution founded in 1945.  The Institute prepares trainers, sports journalists, specialists in kinesiology and adaptive physical  training.


Special Olympics Armenia collaborates with the Department of Adaptive Physical Education. Students of the Department get involved in SOA activities as volunteers helping organize and run events and acquiring practical work experience.

The medical psychological and pedagogical assessment center of the Ministry of Education and Science officially opened in 2007 in former special school N5. This is the first ever such center in the republic.


The center aims to unveil and assess physical, intellectual and spiritual development peculiarities of children with special education needs. Special education teachers, speech therapists, social workers, psychologists and lawyers work in the center. 

The center conducts medical, psychological and pedagogical assessment and provides pedagogical and social services, methodical work and care for children.  


The center organizes educational programs for parents with special needs children and for specialists working in establishments for such children. It also organizes conferences, seminars and exhibitions on challenges of special needs education.
